Thinking about buying a BMW but I hear bad things about maintenance?

Im looking to buy a 3 series beamer around 06-08 but I hear its expensive to keep up with beamers, can someone clarify this

well the the maintence is a lil high but they dont need the maintenance to often. for example if you buy an american car then you will need to fix it 10 times or even more in a year and a bmw maybe once

There great cars but yes some mantance can be expensive like a car made in the states for example lights are 250 a bulb but a bmw is about 1400

i have a 99 328i with 205k miles still running strong, well maintained yes they are expensive but they last, even though my bmw is a 99 looks like an 04 and has heads turning i would sell my bmw best car wouldnt buy anything else but bmw.
